AGEN 170: Basic Hydraulics: Home

Welcome

This guide was created in Fall 2017 for students in Professor McCaskey's AGEN 170: Basic Hydraulics course. The tabs above are intended to help you complete the written assignments in this class and in later courses and assignments requiring research and writing from sources.

Starting Points

Different research tasks require different information sources. If you're looking for tech specs or product information, a company website might be the best place to start. If you're looking for reliable background information about a general topic, a reference book like a specialized encyclopedia might be your best bet. Sometimes, though, an academic assignment specifies that you need to find articles from reputable publications like trade publications, newspapers, popular magazines, or scholarly journals.

The search box on the library's home page is often the best place to start a search for these types of sources. Using this search box will help you find physical items in our library (e.g. books, DVDs, reference materials) and valuable content from scholarly journals, trade publications, popular magazines, and newspapers. More importantly, this search interface allows you to focus your results list by subject, date, source type, language, and publication title.

Sometimes, however, it's helpful to search only one database at a time as a way to limit your results to items from discipline-specific sources. The databases listed below are ones that may be particularly helpful to students in the Agricultural Engineering programs.
