Continuity of Library Services

For the safety of all our students, faculty, staff, and community users, the library will be closed to the public until further notice. We will be unable to check out physical items (books, DVDs, equipment) until the library re-opens.

Our online resources and services are available. If you need to talk with a librarian or require research assistance, please see our chat service page. If you have any questions, call 518-255-5841 Mon.-Fri. between 8am and 4pm. There may times when no one is available to take your call. Please try again later or the next business day. You may also leave a message.

To arrange a research consultation chat with a SUNY Cobleskill librarian, email and a librarian will respond to schedule an appointment.

Returning Checked-Out Items

If you’re off campus and need a renewal, you can call the library at 518-255-5841 or email  We no longer have overdue fines, but we do charge for lost items, so just keep in touch with us if you’re delayed in returning items so we don’t bill you.

Here are some options you can consider for getting items back to us:

  1. Return items on campus. There is an outdoor book drop by the entrance facing the Old Quad if you’re returning items outside our regular hours or just want to quickly drop them off. If you have breakable equipment or items that won't fit in the book drop (e.g. cameras, tripods), please call the library (518-255-5864) to arrange return.
  2. If you’re planning to stay off campus after break but still need the materials you have checked out, you can either:
    1. Return them via mail (USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.) when you’re finished with them; the Library’s mailing address is Van Wagenen Library, 142 Schenectady Avenue, Cobleskill NY 12043
    2. Return them to any SUNY campus library; items cannot be checked in at other SUNYs, but they can get them back to us to check in
