Foundations for College Success (FFCS)

Welcome! (start here)

Welcome to this series of tutorials created for students in SUNY Cobleskill’s FFCS class. These interactive tutorials are intended to strengthen your Information Literacy skills and make you better at finding, evaluating, and using information.

The tutorials are divided into two separate modules. Module #1 focuses on library services and different types of information sources. Module #2 is about citing those sources properly and avoiding plagiarism. You can go through these modules at your own pace, as many times as you like. There will be questions and exercises along the way to make sure you’re understanding things, and quizzes at the end of each module to make sure you’ve mastered the key concepts and principles. If you’re completing these tutorials for your FFCS class, your quiz grades will be forwarded to the instructor you identify as your section leader—so make sure you know your instructor’s name.

Here are some technical recommendations and reminders:

  • the tutorials were designed to be completed on a computer, not on a phone
  • maximize your screen to ensure you can see all content in both panels without scrolling
  • if the information isn't displaying properly, try a different browser (Firefox and Chrome appear to work better than Internet Explorer)
  • if you experience any technical problems with the tutorials contact the Instructional Design Librarian Don LaPlant at

If you're ready to go, click the tab that says "Module 1: Finding Information" and follow the link to the 1st tutorial.
