Circulation Policies & Forms: For Students

Fall 2020 Circulation Changes

Exceptions to circulation policies below for Fall 2020:

  • Hold requests may be placed for any physical item, checked out or on the shelf, including equipment.
  • Tables and Workstations (PCs and Macs) can be booked through the catalog.
  • Some loans will be extended for the full semester based on class need.
  • Returned items will be quarantined for 3 days and CANNOT be re-circulated until they come out of quarantine.

Borrowing Items

Loan Periods

  • Main collection books - through the end of the semester
  • Juvenile books - 14 days
  • Popular reading collection - 14 days
  • A/V materials (DVDs, CDs, records) - 14 days
  • Cameras, camcorders, and related equipment - 7 days
  • Laptops - 7 days

Maximum number of loan items - 99

Photo ID is required for all loans.

The borrower is responsible for all items checked out to their account in the event an item is damaged, lost, stolen, or returned late.

Renewals

Items may be eligible for renewals.  Items can be renewed in person, over the phone by calling the circulation desk (255-5864), or by logging in to your library account.

Log in to your library account

To renew an item online:

  • Log in to your account
  • Click your name at the top right of the page and select "My Loans" in the menu
  • Click "Renew All" OR
  • Check the renew button by the items you wish to renew

Overdue Fines & Lost Item Fees

Overdue Fines

The library no longer charges overdue fines to students.  Lost and damaged item fees still apply.

Overdue notices are sent to campus email addresses.

Damaged or Lost Material

Students are asked to pay the replacement cost of material lost or damaged.  A $20 processing fee is assessed for all lost items.  Unpaid library obligations will be billed to the students' college account and may be deducted from any refund due.  Unpaid library obligations may also be turned over to a collection agency and/or the NYS Attorney General's Office, where additional collection costs will be included.

Holds & Recalls

Holds

Holds may be placed on items that have been checked out. Once the item is returned, it will be put aside for the patron and the patron notified. Items are held for only seven days after notification.

Holds cannot be placed on circulating equipment.

Recalls

ILL request will be placed in lieu of recalling items unless the item cannot be procured from another library.
